The Texas Tribune is holding a series of events across Texas in June that will recap the major policy debates of the 2023 legislative session and what new legislation will mean for communities across the state.

Event Details

Join our conversation on June 15 in Amarillo about the state budget, taxes, public education, higher education, health care and other key issues with legislators. We will discuss bills that the Legislature passed, how Texans will be affected and what they should know going forward.

Confirmed panelists are Rep. Four Price, R-Amarillo, Rep. John Smithee, R-Amarillo and Keralee Clay, senior vice president, Amarillo Area Foundation.


The moderator for this event will be Jayme Lozano Carver, South Plains and Panhandle reporter for The Texas Tribune.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the event begins at 12 p.m. Central on Thursday, June 15, at:

Senior vice president, Amarillo Area Foundation

Keralee Clay, who grew up in Amarillo, is senior vice president of Amarillo Area Foundation, overseeing HR, IT, operations, communications, marketing and strategic initiatives. In addition, she has an enhanced role supporting promotion of the foundation's mission through community outreach.

State Representative, R-Amarillo

State Representative Four Price, R-Amarillo, has represented House District 87 since 2011. Now in his seventh term, Price serves on the Natural Resources Committee, the Public Health Committee, and the Select Committee on Health Care Reform.

John Smithee

State Representative, R-Amarillo

John T. Smithee has served in Texas House of Representatives since 1985, representing the 86th District. He is a member of the Juvenile Justice & Family Issues committee and State Affairs committee.

South Plains and Panhandle Reporter for the Texas Tribune

Jayme Lozano Carver is the Tribune’s first Lubbock-based reporter, covering the South Plains and Panhandle through a partnership with Report for America. Jayme previously worked for Texas Tech Public Media, Lubbock’s NPR station, where she spearheaded “Rural Healthcare: The Other Texas Drought,” a series for PBS’ “Frontline” on rural hospital closures in Texas. She also covered a broad range of topics for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, including climate change, agriculture, entertainment and health care. Born in Levelland, Jayme is a native of the South Plains area and studied at South Plains College and Texas Tech University.
